"ARTICLE LINKER" TRIAL :
We are currently undergoing a trial of "Article Linker" software. This software should better connect you to our library's electronic and print collection when you are searching the ADS (NASA Astrophysics Data System; http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abstract_service.html).
To try it out, you must have an account with the ADS. (Create an account here : http://adsabs.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/nph-manage_account?man_cmd=new)
Once you have logged in to your account, click on "my Account."
Select "Library Links Settings." Select "STScI" from the menu of Library Link servers. Click "Save Settings." You only need to set this up once.
As you research in the ADS, you will encounter "Library Links." These Library Links will allow you to automatically search the STScI collection for the articles you have found via an ADS search. (Please note that since this is a trial, it may not be 100% accurate at this time.)
Another feature of this trial is the "Ejournal portal" (http://ln2zx6jp4a.search.serialssolutions.com/). The Ejournal portal allows you to see, at a glance, all of the electronic journals available both from the Library's electronic subscriptions and those provided by the ADS. You may find a a link to the Ejournal portal on the Library Website (http://sesame.stsci.edu/library.html).
Please let us know what you think of this service and let us know of any problems you encounter.
*RENOVATION UPDATE :*
Many thanks to all of you who checked out big piles of library books last week.Collectively, we checked out more than 1000 books! It really made a difference.
This week, we will begin to move specific parts of the collection, such as selected monographs and oversize materials. The "big move" is currently scheduled for April 21.
During this transitionary period, if you find you are unable to access what you need, please send us an email at library@stsci.edu. Keep an eye on your inbox for more announcements about the "library in transit."

March 2008
1. ASP CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
ASP conference proceedings are now fully available online. That is,
scanned copies are available from vol. 1.
Visit the Library's "Electronic Book Series & Journals" page
(http://library.stsci.edu/lib/Ejournallist.html) to access these newly online volumes.
2. RENOVATIONS
While the fourth floor is being renovated, what will happen to the Library?
Although our space will be unavailable during this time, we still plan
on providing Library materials and services.
Here are the "nuts and bolts" of our plan (subject to revision) :
*Most library materials will be stored. Materials will be paged
upon request Mon-Fri. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
*We will create a mobile "mini-Library," located outside the Auditorium
on the second floor. Here, you will be able to peruse new books,
journals and magazines during business hours.
*Library staff will be relocated to an office in the first floor.
*More to come : new ADS enhancements and electronic content to make
online research more efficient.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions on these resources/services, please let us know! As the advent of construction draws near, we'll have Lunch 'n Learns as well as new FAQ's on our website about renovation-era Library services.
3. SPIE CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
The Library now provides a subscription to the Astronomical and Astrophysical Optics
segment of the SPIE Digital Library. Any papers published in conferences on these topics
are available from 1990 forward.
Access the AAO segment here : http://spiedigitallibrary.aip.org/browse/segment.jsp?type=seg&scode=AAO
If a needed paper is not part of this package, please let us know!
4. NEW! COMMUNICATING ASTRONOMY WITH THE PUBLIC JOURNAL
http://www.capjournal.org/
Visit this new journal for the latest on this important topic.
